I realised, most of my blog posts are about overseas trips omg. Am I such a "huay ka" cannot stay in singapore? But oh well, life is to enjoy and have fun and just be happy whatever you do right? Go to my dayre for daily updates! Blogger is just for official events or meaningful events then i will blog.
Listening to 2ne1's If i were you and every time i listen to this song i can't help but get such deep into emotion and the girls surely conveyed every of their songs well. BUT! I shall not procrastinate anymore and blog about this trip with my family and research for another overseas trip! YES I'm going overseas again
March 31st 2014, We are packed and prepared for our hong kong trip! Got to admit this is sort of an inpromtu trip with my family but we needed this getaway to celebrate me breaking free from my workplace (does that make any sense? lol) But yeah one night i saw a promotion on cathay pacific instead of their usual $600 for flight from singapore to hong kong, there's a 50% discount for 2 hours. So i was sitting infront of my computer and randomly shouted to my parents: "Cathay pacific flight to hongkong $280 only leh on bo?" and they were like: "anything la up to you you pay can already" Soooo i just booked the tickets and started researching on hotels! Total damaged about $3000 on my bank cause i paid for all hotel and air tickets but i had a motive: EVERYTHING THERE WAS PAID BY MY DAD which we ended up spending about $3000 sgd also hahahaha so sama sama. Oh ya we went for 8d7n which is totally not enough. Maybe i just can't face the reality of coming back to singapore but everyday there was awesome.
Flight at 12:45pm and was in the car on the way to the airport at 9am because of my very kiasu parents but i later received a sms that the flight was delayed for 30 minutes which even dampened my mood cause we were at the airport at around 10am. Drove our own car there and my uncle drove it back somebody banged our car so the back got totally dented my dad asked him to go repair at a repair shop while we're there
All photos taken by Olympus E-PL6
Very happily bringing my new chanel case to hong kong which i later found out the hook is broken wtf cannot even hang on my body without it dropping every 10 minutes
Reached the airport quite early so checked in and headed for breakfast, at the same time ever since i dabbled into make up like a year ago i've been crazy buying every new make up products on the airport! Spent like an hour in the duty free cosmetic shop buying and trying stuffs haha
Dunno if it's because whenever our family comes overseas we have to eat before the flight but we always ended up at the exact same place for breakfast! Ruyi!!! Already had breakfast in the morning before we came out and had breakfast again in the airport. Dad like dont care even though i warned him that the airplane will serve lunch
Mum looking all pretty and ready for hong kong haha
I always have to order the carrot cake at ruyi its just niceeeeeeeeee! And was abit stupid ah we going hong kong eat i still go eat carrot cake in singapore what nonsense!!!!
Me and mum were walking around taking photos everywhere and to not bore you guys too much, here's just a few shots of our #ootd and seriously i have to thank myself for bringing the super thick winter adidas jeremy scotts boots if not i will freeze to death there! Will elaborate more later but main point is, DO NOT TRUST THE WEATHER FORECAST IN IPHONE
Chanced upon a pandora shop and my eyes were caught on a pair of heart shape earrings! Bought it even without thinking my mum was like very pretty buy buy buy buy so another $80 damage on my bank! But you gotta admit gurl, it was preetz!
On the tv in the airport it says boarding gate opened, so we strolled down to the gate to find ourself waiting another 20 minutes because the flight got delayed yet again sigh. They were doing some serious maintenance work and i was worried for us because last year the exact same plane caught fire and the plane had to detour back to singapore. But glad everything's alright and up the plane we boarded!
When we checked in i was soooooo happy to find that we got window seats!!! And when we boarded the plane, i was super excited and walking to my seat when i realise... it's the first row which i dont like! No window at the side, and everyone can see you eating!! But people had to pay $20 extra for these seat, and you'll be rescued first if there's any accident and the legroom is unlimited so i accepted reality that this is not that bad of a seat haha.
After take off, browse the entertainment that's available for us and watched snippets of MAMA 2013 (Just 2ne1, Big Bang and Iconic Pop's performance) and headed for frozen! Everyone was telling me how nice it was and how can i not watch this so i had high expectation for the movie but it was alright only not that good honestly but my mom said i was so absorbed in watching people walking past me were giving me a look like i was posessed lol! And one part where the sister froze elsa that part i wanna cry but can't we were at thr front row everyone can see me ok!
Juice and peanuts served as an appetizer and my dad thought this was "lunch" and i jokingly told him yea this is our lunch and his face just shows of disbeliefs lmao
And after awhile, the real lunch came! Secretly loving plane food man i've always love eating in planes especially the warm bread and haagen daz ice cream! chose fish pasta which was totally awesome compared to dad's chicken rice
And so when we were about to reach hong kong the seatbelt signal came on so i thought it will only be a small turbulence but hell no the captain talked through the PA system that the weather is really bad now but it's still safe. But i swear the 3 times that we faced the turbulence and drop i swear the whole plain literally dropped and it always lasts for more then 10 seconds and everyone is screaming in the plane it's the scariest drop i've ever faced but glad we landed safely
Touched down in hong kong! Check out was relatively fast and we proceeded to the taxi station and i didn't know that different colors of taxi represent them going to different areas of hong kong! We were at kowloon so we had to take the red taxi which stands for urban taxi haha! Greeted by rain the moment we reached tsk tsk tsk
A mandatory shot with the icon of hong kong, the bridge lol! It was raining too heavily couldn't get a good shot!! And the amazing thing is.... we go thailand my dad speaks fleunt thai we go hong kong he speaks fleunt cantonese wtf. i dont understand him mannnnnnn mysterious
With the taxi fee that came up to about $40 sgd 240 hkd we reached our hotel! Transporting in taxis are the most expensive in hong kong and should be avoided at all costs lol! First impression of the hotel: WOW. Blown away by the high class-ness of the hotel and really. Got really i always choose the good hotel. Would rather pay more for a more comfortable and safer stay at a foreign country!
Check in went smooth to till the counter guy told us that we need to deposit $500 sgd cash in case we use the mini bar or ordered room service or ordered movie which i stupidly accidently pressed one super wanna beat myself up la! I ordered a movie which costs 98 hkd approx $16 sgd and i didn't watch the movie cause i thought as long as i didn't play it the tv wont charge me... only during check out then i realised it's already been cashed in and we have to pay wtfffffffffffffff
Stayed at Royal Plaza Hotel which was huge for it's quality and price seriously!! I think this will be the only hotel that i will stay at if i ever come to hong kong again man! Everyone was telling me to be careful as picture on website and real is different hong kong's hotel all cramp they say. Royal plaza hotel proved them wrong man! Booked the deluxe family room for 4 occupancy although we only have a head count of 3! More affordable then adding a bed in a twin bedroom! Excited, we tapped the card to our room 1124, and it was the best sight in the whole trip lol! The room was HUGE, the bed was SOFT and very very COMFORTABLE and the bathroom is all i could ever ask for! Everything was beyond my expectation and it really looks exactly the same as photos described hahahaha
The only downside: There was no stand-in bathroom!!! means we have to climb into a bathtub to bath! DOWNSIDE but everything else was great
Super comfortable bed which is even better then glow pratunam's bangkok which i claimed was the best! YAY BED FOR MYSELF
Awesome bathroom is awesome. I had a great time doing my make up and shitting here lolol
Entrance with a wardrobe on the right, bathroom on the left and a full size mirror~
Walked in and there's a tv, mirror, couch, table and an area with a sofa where i can put on shoe forgot to take the photo and also a lie down sofa? neat the bed where we enjoyed the view of hong kong and the swimming pool below. My parents were so into taking photos man keep telling me to take take take photo
My dad says this is the new hennessy VSOP alcohol which was very smooth for him and i did not get to try it too lazy to open the bottle lol
Abundant of bathroom amenities
A huge lighted mirror in the bathroom and attached on the wall is a zoom in close up mirror which scares my mum sometimes lololol! great for doing precision make up though
After exploring and feeling the hotel abit, it was a camwhore #selfies session with my parents! Took soooo many shots using the self timer from olympus e-pl6 and i only selected a few do not want to spam too much here! #FAMILYSELFIETIME
Oh ya i did not mention that the bathroom is a see through bathroom lol! But there's a switch that will lower the blinds when you dont want the bathroom to be see through, which most of the time we did not even bother to pull up the bathroom blinds lol
Went downstair to explore the shopping mall and also to grab our first dinner in hong kong! We were initially lost but asked around and we found our way around!
Seen this the most while i'm here and i wonder how they name their streets? Washing clothes street? LOL
The first look at hong kong's street and night life and below our hotel already have such a huge place selling skincare and cosmetics haha! They say the 2 biggest are bonjour and sasa! Walked around and while thinking and seeing what to eat, we were attracted to a store selling lok lok kind of food! Best seasoning to go with!! Ordered with siewmai and fishballs on a rainy night it's very very goodddd am totally craving for it now!
And when i said above, DONT TRUST IPHONE'S WEATHER FORECAST! It's totally wrong! Days before we came, i checked and the average always say 23-25 but not the case here! It was 16-18 degrees i swear and i was in such short dress with just a short inside and a thin checkered top and people were staring at me think i crazy so cold wear so short! Some were even in padded jackets! Although i'm generally more of a cold person i can tolerate cold very well but this was too cold for me especially on a rainy night haha!
And as we wondered around, we finally settle our first dinner!!! At a famous restaurant they say in hong kong (generally all the food in hongkong is good if not sure wont be open anymore cause of the super expensive rents so it's like delicacies everywhere) A claypot shop and ordered like no tomorrow! Abit too filling for 3 people but oh well! It's nice!!
their famous handmade noodle with their own broth
Chicken feet which my parents kept giving compliments for and forcing me to try but no mum i'm not going to suck on chicken's feet!! I wonder how many chicken have been killed just for the feets
Signature claypot rice! Nice but the sausage smell too much!
And my favourite of the night! Special coating fried tofu! Cannot explain the taste of the tofu it's just crunchy on the outside but the moment you bite in, it's so soft and fluffy
Total damage: $40 which is expensive! The costs of living there is expensive man
Walked around the neighborhood and came to the conclusion that 1 umbrella is not enough so we headed to a street stall selling umbrella and bought one that's rain proof sun proof hurricane proof and wind proof! Eh not joking when they say that there was 1 day where the wind was so strong the whole umbrella flipped to an v shape instead of when you open the umbrella is in an n shape! Really good umbrella lol
Walked around and bought a shirt! My favourite buy of hong kong for sure! Can go with leggings or it can pull off as a short shirt dress!
Came across many shops selling fish package like this can breathe meh the fish??? They only put a small small leaf inside and expect the fish to live omg
Back to the hotel and took the chance to use my polaroid! Took photos and called it a night!
Buys of day 1! minus groceries etc! As i'm typing this i'm already missing hong kong so much man! Stay tune for day 2 ok! Will publish day 2 on friday promise!
